In about 16 hours I will be back at the Happiest Place On Earth! You may be thinking: Disney World??? Umm... No... I will be back at CAMP at the Clemson Outdoor Lab! It basically has everything that Disney has: people dressed up as princesses, two doggies, chivalrous princes, fun games, catchy songs, and an endless supply of smiles! So yes, I am just a little bit excited! But I have a few worries as well:
1. What if I am no good at being a counselor anymore (Maybe I wasn't very good to begin with?)
2. What if I can not find enough energy?
3. What if my wonderful campers do not like me anymore?
4. What if this summer's camp experience does not live up to the expectations built up by last summers great memories?
What if, What if, what if...
This can basically be summed up into one camp lingo phrase, "Pre Camp Butterflies." Ahhh, I am so nervous!
As I was driving up to Clemson today, I was thinking back to last year and how I had literally turned around because I was so nervous. But luckily my sense of responsibility towards commitment kicked in and I turned back around and made it to Camp. And you know what? Even though the entire first week of training was overwhelming and I was a high strung ball of over electrified nerves caging in some flittery butterflies, It all turned out ok.
Better than ok!
I just have to remember that everything will be fine. God has this happy place in his hands. I just have to strive to be the best counselor I can be, and that is all I can do. God, will pick up the rest, He always does.
Plus, the Campers make Camp not little ol' me. And they are The Best! I can not wait to see all of my giggly, funny, hand-holding, splashing, smiling, running, skipping, singing, screaming, coloring friends! They are all princesses in terms of how great they are, and the happiest place on earth will be full of royalty in less than 7 days!! Please pray for me and the rest of the counselors that we can get over are own fears and become one team so that we can give these lovelies the best time of their life! They deserve it!
