Laundry Day

2/12/2013

I have been in Cortona for a week now, so that means I need to do laundry. This morning I washed my clothes by hand and now they are hanging in the sun to dry. I look back on those seven days I feel as if I have been living here forever. Forever, in the sense that I feel that I belong, I could live out my years walking the hills and drinking café.  Oh Cortona, what a beut!

She surprises me every morning. Sunday I woke up to church bells. Monday I woke up to the valley covered in snow. Tuesday I woke up to the sound of birds singing and the sun shining!

She surprises me every meal and I am never disappointed.

She surprises me around every corner and down every way. Over cobblestone and through the woods, I have not found an ugly place yet or even a boring area! Around every corner is an interesting window or an ancient artifact. Every shop is full of character.

Maybe I will get used to this life and it will become bland and slow but I cannot conceive such contentment at this time.

Life is good.
