On an antiquing trip in Charleston, I picked up an old solid wood end table for $30. Man, was it dirty! I figured it was probably an ugly grain under all the grime and planned to paint it a fun color as a quick fix. My plans changed as I sanded and cleaned. It shows, never judge a book by its cover! Also, always buy solid wood, it will never fail you.
Below you will find the steps and materials for Project: Transform This Old End Table!
-old, dirty piece of furniture
-100 to 200 grit sand paper
-fun paint color
-medium steel wool
-white distilled vinegar
4. Time for the finishing touches! I decided to varnish the wood with a semi gloss poly to really show off the beautiful grain. I also painted the inside of the drawers with a grey-green latex paint to give them a clean, and fresh slate. Once everything is dry (a good 24 hours) you can put the handles back on and make a check on your to-do list!
