Today, one of the strongest women of this century, no scratch that, all of history, Maya Angelou passed away. So I have spent my time reading inspiring quotes and poems by her as the world wide web mourns her passing. Some of the quote I have read before and some I was reading for the first time today. She is truly inspiring for all women, no matter your race or struggles. But she is also able to reach further than just women, her words are inspiring for anyone who may be faced with an obstacle. I urge you to take a break and read about her and some of her writings today.
You may have noticed that the home page of my website has a quote of the month.I know I am a little ahead of things, but I have been thinking a lot about and prepping for June, so when I read this quote, I knew it was the one:
"Love recognizes no barriers.
First off, in June I get to go back to Camp Hope so the word "hope" immediately set my heart to dancing. I love Camp and all of my wonderful friends who will be there with me, but for the past couple of weeks I have been really nervous. What if it is not as wonderful as last summer? What if I have lost all counseling ability this school year since it was so hard and emotional? What if I am too jaded to do anything good? The worries go on, and on.
But these wise words remind me of the power of love, God's love! His love knows no boundaries and can reach even to the depths of the hardest hearts. He is so loving, forgiving and strong. And the beautiful yet mind boggling thing is, He loves little old me! He jumps fences and leaps hurdles to love me.
Then he lets me take his love and share it with the world (and Camp!). So the love I have been given to give away can reach the campers at Camp Hope. It will not hit a wall and bounce off like Thunderball. God's love will not dissolve in stressful times like chalk on rainy days. This love will be at Camp even when some of my staples are not. It will come through the camp gates and bring hope and happiness. I should not be worried because I am coming with a never ending, ever powerful source of love and hope to give away.
